Clear, helpful, to the point explanations of varying kinds of physical health conditions & challenges- and practical tools and tips to help the people living with them and their loved ones. Designed for lay people wanting to understand more about science, medicine, and the human body. Brought to you by charismatic & caring health professionals from across the globe.
Each MasterClass will be divided into three levels:
Section One: Information for the general public/lay people about a specific medical condition, so the general public can better understand it, and how to interact and support those with such conditions. Especially poignant for viewers that may have a loved one, student, or other person in their community with such a condition.
Section Two: More detailed level designed for patients afflicted with the particular illness, so the patient can be aware of what treatment and management tools may be available to them, and to help the patient more deeply understand what their body is going through and how various treatments can affect their body
Section 3: A higher level for doctors and medical professionals in other fields to be able to get exposure to a specialization outside their own field, for the purposes of being able to notice the signs and symptoms in an undiagnosed patient. Some patients go years, even decades, without a proper diagnosis. This section is inspired by the line from the hippocratic oath:
"I will not be ashamed to say 'I know not', nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery."
Clear, helpful, to the point explanations of varying kinds of mental health conditions & challenges- and practical tools and tips to help the people living with them and their loved ones. Designed for lay people wanting to understand their own or their loved ones' mental health. Brought to you by charismatic & caring mental health professionals from across the globe. As with our Physical Health Editor of "Healer's MasterClass", our Mental Health Edition will also be divided into the three course sections listed above.
(Some courses, particularly those related to functional medicine, may be a combination of both Physical Health and Mental Health healing modalities- exploring the mind's influence on the body, and the body's influence on the mind.)
The perspective of the doctors and healers is incredibly important AND so is the perspective of the person experiencing the illness- the courageous patient! In this MasterClass series, we feature people with physical disabilities, mental disabilities, chronic illness, and other long-term medical conditions on how they’re doing their best moving through life. Whether it’s tools to manage symptoms, organizations and communities that support accessibility, or just sharing their personal emotional journey through life and the medical system- this MasterClass series is designed to give a voice to the patient.
Experiencing a physical illness or disability directly in your own body is a type of understanding of a medical condition that is different than studying it from books, or even clinical in-person experience as a doctor. While doctors provide a vital source of healing and knowledge, there is also a type of healing that can only be given from patient to patient- the human connection of someone who understands the depth of what you’ve gone through, because they’ve gone through it too. This is the transformative healing power of truly being seen and understood, and why we're excited to bring you the "Disability & Patient Edition" of Doorway's Healer's MasterClass series.
Medical professionals with visions on how we can revolutionize the healthcare systems of the world. How can we make the experience of healthcare the best it can be for both the patient, loved ones, and all members of the medical staff?
"I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.
I will not be ashamed to say 'I know not', nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery."
"Now if I carry out this oath, and break it not, may I gain for ever reputation among all men for my life and for my art; but if I break it and forswear myself, may the opposite befall me."
"Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance."
"I am among those who think that science has great beauty. A scientist in his laboratory is not only a technician: he is also a child placed before natural phenomena which impress him like a fairy tale."
"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less."
